WATER WALL SITE
Medina, Washington
On this site an infinity edge water feature was designed to bring the shore of a lake nearly thirty vertical feet below into the heart of the house. The lambent light of the water feature reflects the changing sky, throwing patterns of light onto eaves, interior walls and ceilings. .
Naturally cleft sandstone slabs provide paths across the water, places to sit on a hot summer day, and lead the eye to the distant horizon. Sandstone pavers create the floor of the adjacent terrace. Beneath the water wall a hot tub is hidden, and a large lawn rolls down to a play space at beach level, with an adjacent terrace and fire pit.
A native vine maple grove provides privacy and transition from the arrival courtyard. A thicket of bamboo provides privacy for the master bath, and a spring box and moss garden provide an unexpected and more intimate view from the living room. |
